Edward Flores, Owner, Mud Puppies
Boarding your dog for the first time can be stressful for the whole family, but most of the time--let's be honest, it's much more difficult for the pet parents to let go--even for one night.

Austin is a great city for dogs, because you have so many options to choose from for boarding or playcare needs. But, Mud Puppies is fast becoming Austin's favorite dog boarding, playcare, grooming, dog wash, and training facility! We are extremely proud to have been named 2011 Best Pet Service by the readers of the Austin Chronicle, 2011 Best Boarding Facility, and 2010 Best Grooming Salon by the Austin Pets Directory!
With over 2,400 Facebook fans, your dog will be in the spotlight when visiting for boarding or playcare! We have uploaded over 11,000 pictures to our Facebook page, so it's safe to say you will see your dog in one of our many albums! How could you not love that?! WE DO!
Should you decide to join our family, there are a few things you'll want to know. At Mud Puppies all dogs who come for boarding or playcare must go through a playcare orientation. We give all of our dogs about 3-5 hrs of group playtime a day, so safety is our top priority. We want to make sure your dog, other dogs, and the Mud Puppies staff are safe while your dog is in our care. During the orientation we introduce your dog to different dogs, different sizes, and different temperaments to see what group they will fit in with the most. Whether your dog loves to romp around non-stop, play just the right amount of time, or just chill & relax with his new friends, we are the right place for your family!
On their orientation we also want to see how your dog reacts when left alone in their bunk--we do not use cages or crates. Our bunks are the about the size of a crate, but with three walls and a door. Our goal is to make sure our dogs don't suffer from separation anxiety, and possibly hurt themselves by attempting to get out of their bunk. We also require all of our dogs to be up to date on their Rabies, DHLPP, and Bordetella vaccinations. We will need a copy of your most up-to-date shot records from your veterinarian to keep in your pet's file.

We always get the question, what should/can I bring during my dog's boarding stay?? Our ultimate goal is to make your dog feel at home. So, while we are happy to provide nutritious food during their stay, we recommend you bring their regular food and treats from home. We do not want to give your dog an upset tummy while they're with us, so keeping them on their food is best. You might want to bring a few of their favorite toys from home as well. If they sleep on a dog bed, mat, or a favorite blanket, feel free to bring that along too. At Mud Puppies we sell "Molly Mutt" Dog Beds in our retail area. Many of our clients love these beds, because you can stuff them with old towels, blankets, or your old clothes. The best part is all of these items have your and their scent on them. That truly makes them feel like they are at home. We even tell our clients to bring the shirt they wore to bed the night before, so their mom or dad's scent is very close to them when sleeping away from home.
It's an understatement to say that we love dogs at Mud Puppies! But, we want you to see for yourself. Make sure to take a tour of our facility--we are open to the public Monday-Friday from 7am-7pm, Saturday from 8am-6pm, and Sunday from 11am-5pm. Come in for a tour anytime- no appointment necessary.
